Woman Losses over $500,000 in an OurTime Scam.

Joan was married to her husband who she was with since she was 13. They grew up together and were beginning to save, retire, and transition into their golden years when suddenly, he died. Joan was left without her best friend, and although the rest of her family was there for her, the loss had Joan feeling lonely, to say the least.

After a while, Joan created an Ourtime account, and within the first two days, she met someone named Roger Love. Once Joan met Roger, he immediately moved the conversation to email. When Joan and Roger first started talking, everything was going great.

Roger showered Joan with love and admiration. In fact, Joan remembers telling Roger that he was so sweet he could write romantic notes professionally…

One day, Joan was on a phone call with Roger. He said that there was an emergency and he would need her to send him money. Joan immediately hung up in his face. She didn’t know whether or not he was a scammer, but she didn’t feel comfortable sending him money. Roger called back over and over, and finally, Joan picked up the phone.

Roger was a talented romantic. He could make Joan feel loved, valued, and appreciated with his words. He was equally capable of making her feel sorry for him and like she was the only one on the planet who could help him. After all, He Just told Joan about his wife and kid dying three weeks apart from each other not too long ago.

Joan sent him money once. Until there was another emergency, then she sent more. Then there was another emergency. Roger’s emergencies started becoming more and more frequent until the relationship became one big emergency. Joan found herself sending money for all types of things. From being detained in Dubai to having his appendix removed.

Once the point came where it was undeniable that she was being scammed, Joan knew she had to tell her family. She didn’t know how to tell her son that she had lost the half a million dollars that her husband had left in investments. That money was supposed to be her kid’s and grandkid’s money when she moves on. She only has $16,000 left to his name.

Joan is still in contact with Roger after he has stolen this large sum of money. She has also contacted various government agencies to help track Roger down and expose his true identity so he can be brought to justice, but there’s very little the police can do.

Watch the video below to hear more about Joan’s story.
